After watching the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes by Howard Hawks, the song "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" kept on repeating in my mind, which I am honestly content with. As flawless as Marilyn Monroe was when performing that song, the words itself was the eye-catcher.. or in this case the ear-catcher for me.
"But diamonds are a girl's best friend." - Marilyn Monroe
Diamonds for me have a certain décor to clothing, creating this elegant style for any outwear BUT can diamonds lose its quality and value with certain clothing styles? As zircon and rhinestones become an inexpensive substitute to the "real thing" outfits become whether downgraded or upgraded.
Now, you wouldn't wear a Harry Winston necklace with a tracksuit and you wouldn't wear a Tiffany & Co. bracelet to the beach or would you? So where is the line between an elegant and appropriate look for diamonds and the devalue of diamonds within an outfit?
Formal gowns, long satin gloves or wedding dresses are perfect for diamonds to compliment from my perspective, as the elegancy of the clothing becomes boosted with the elegancy of the diamonds. But formalwear isn't the only suitable outwear for diamonds. Age also grows with diamonds as well.
There's a quote from the film Breakfast at Tiffany's that I absolutely agree with by the infamous Audrey Hepburn.
"Personally I think it'll be tacky to wear diamonds before I'm 30." - Audrey Hepburn
Although diamonds make formalwear elegant, the adult generation after 30 whom can afford the authentic jewellery have a more age appropriate agenda with the diamonds. Diamonds create an elegant and classic appearance whether it be earring, necklaces, bracelets or rings, creating a fabulous appearance to the outfit.
This year has marked a significant beginning of a new
fashionable decade. The fashion trends from the past have been revived and
reignited which will break through this Summer, including hairstyle fashion
trends. Hairstyles can be a mixture of long, short, curly, straight, coloured
or shiny black, but they all have their own beauty.
In my perspective, Hair Fashion for Spring/Summer 2012 will
include diverse colours and rich technical hairdressing skills.
However, there is not much innovation on the type of cut, the hairstylist needs
to invest more in styling hair. You want your hair to look simple, stylish but
still exquisite.
Following the current fashion trends this spring, including
florals and prints, you need to experiment with different
hairstyles which show your tastes and skills to match your clothing. If you
are ready to change the look for the new season, please see the hair trends
2012 to look for inspiration for a perfect make over!
There are several hair style trends that I fall in love with.
There also some hot tips that I could post for each hairstyle which will help
you match your hairstyles with the current fashion trends. These tips I have
researched will not only give you beautiful hair, but will save your time and
money as well.
The
first style that everyone is used to is Glistening Hairstyle.
In
my point of view, this hairstyle is quite common as many people
'overlooked' the attraction of it, but sometimes it makes women look feminine,
brighter and much younger.
According to what i have researched, in order to revive your
hair's natural beauty and shine and make your glistening hair style look
amazing, you can apply the following natural remedies for 7 consecutive days: 1. Cinnamon, garlic and red onions
Just take a bowl and add hot water, 4 cloves garlic and 2
chopped cinnamon sticks and onions into pieces, then boil the mixture for 15
minutes. Let the mixture cool and use this spice mixture to massage your scalp
or shampoo. I have not tried to do it but lots of my friends did it and they
got perfect results.
2. Honey + Aloe
This treatment, you can combine the two ingredients together
gently and it becomes a hair care formula rich in vitamins.
To do this, you need to shave gel from 3 aloe leaves then mix it
with 2 tablespoons of honey and apply, then rub them all over your scalp. If
possible, massage your scalp and let it stay on the skin for 20 minutes.
Finally rinse with warm water. Repeat this simple measure daily for 1 week
to give results which can be seen immediately. I usually use this
treatment because it is really easy and it works well for my hair.
3. Potato + egg yolk + honey
For me, this is another easy way to
enhance your hair. You can mix the popular components together to form a
mixture for healthy hair. First, you squeeze the juice of a medium potato. Then
mix the potato juice with 1 egg yolk and 2 teaspoons of honey. Apply this
mixture on your scalp and let it stay on for 25 minutes, then wash the hair
with warm water.
4. Onion + white wine
I have not tried this one yet but it is also simple to do. The
only thing you need to wait until the next day to apply
the treatment. Cut the onion into small pieces, then add 1 cup of white rum
into the bowl containing the sliced onion.
The next day, you remove the pieces of onion and then use this
mixture to massage on the scalp. Let it stay on the hair for 30 minutes
then rinse with warm water.
Following the latest
fashion trends is all good and well but what happens when you people make up
their own fashion trends that soon turn into fashion don’ts!
The first fashion
don’t…..is the issue of short shorts, yes shorts are in and yes they look good
but shorts riding so far up that your underwear is longer is just not a good
look. Wear clothes that suit your body and that people can not see body parts
that are not supposed to be seen.
Another major fashion
crisis which just doesn’t seem to be impressing the fashion world is…….is the
ugg boots. Yes they may warm and yes they be comfy….but ugg boots should not be
worn with shorts and definitely not be worn with dresses. Ugg boots are the
warmth of winter not the fashion trend of summer. So ladies lets keep the
uggies for the winter and whip those thongs out for the summer.
One of my fashion trends for 2012 is florals and prints. however, floral on floral and prints on prints are not so much a fashion trend-- more like a fashion don't. So choose your prints wisely ladies because who knows who will be watching around the corner.
So ladies think twice
before you put your next outfit on….are you committing a fashion crime? Are you
being a fashion criminal?
First things first, without the right footwear the clothing you are wearing would be incomplete. Just imagine walking down a red-carpet premiere barefooted. Not a good look unless it's summer bikini premiere.
Now everyone who has worn high heels, whether it is 9-inch to 15-inch heels, can understand that walking or running in heels can be somewhat painful.
So why do we do it?
Here in the photo I tested out my new Tony Bianco wedge boots on a terrain that one would most likely come across when they are wearing heels: Concrete streets and sidewalks that are elevated. These terrains can be a trek sometimes if you are walking upward on a hill, downhill or even on a flat terrain as the hard surface does not give that "bounce" in your step.
BUT, the way heels make you look and feel is the reason why we use it to begin with.
Now I know personally that I am not the tallest person around, so wearing heels makes me feel like a whole new person in the way I look as a whole or just my legs, which helps boost my self-esteem in wearing fashionable clothing around. Majority of my high heels are wedges or an ankle-boot style which I prefer when walking or running, especially the fact that my shoe size does not usually come around when purchasing heels (5.5 AU with a B width). With boots or wedges I have more security in maintaining my feet in the heel itself without injuring my feet or ankle. One of my main peeves in walking with heels is my feet slipping out of the shoe like Cinderella when trying to catch that last train. Another reason I would wear high heels would be the exercise motivation, now I know that it may not be the best way to strengthen the calf muscles but having your feet in a certain position that tenses those calf muscles really make a difference when I want definition.
Me personally, depending on the mood, I am usually situated between a shoe-lover and a shoe-hater. From recent experiences when going out clubbing in the city where the terrain is not the best or levelled situation to walk in my high heels become the enemy of my feet and my thongs or ballet flats usually come to the rescue. Once before I twisted my ankle in 13-inch heels and it was not a fun trek back home throughout the whole night in the same heels.
But in saying that, heels have honestly made a huge impact in the fashion industry, whether it is the design of the heel itself or how it compliments the clothing of the user. There are many different designs that have changed fashion and the clothing we wear. Not only has it changed how we look but also our mentality of how we should dress in accordance to the occasion or the surrounding environment. In my case, my self-esteem in my body figure boosts on what I wear with heels complimenting the shape and size of my legs.
Fashions and food, two of the greatest things in the world combined into one. I love food and I love fashion. I used to watch Project Runway and loved the amazing challenges of using unconventional materials to create clothing. Half the time I preferred them more. They were more interesting, creative and brighter! Look how elegant artichoke leaves can look! And the waffle pants are just amazing!
There is a food for every occasion. Artichoke dresses for formal, waffle pants for casual Fridays and these accessories by Fulvio Bonavia are versatile so they can be used for any occasion or just during the day. I would honestly use these accessories and clothes if they wouldn't spoil (I would probably eat my waffle pants and blueberry bag before I got to wear them). Each piece is obviously unique and no one else would have them. One of the things I love about fashion is that it can be made of anything and look just as good or better, plus it's always trying to reinvent itself.
Hey welcome to our
fashion blog, the first blog will consist of the current fashion trends that
have hit our city. These trends have come from many of our favourite fashion
magazines including Elle and Vogue.
So the current most popular fashion trend straight from the
runway isfloral and printshave become a fashion must of this years runway as
well as spreading to the recent music awards red carpet. These new prints turn
basic pieces into something worth talking about.
Another fashion must is leather,in the recent fashion show
Yves Saint Laurent walked her way out in an full leather outfit winning the
crowd over. Either done up as a dress or ready to rumble as slick pants there
is something for everyone.
The current colour of this season is the fairly new Oxblood
which has hit the runways like it is going out of style. Elle, Vogue Fashion
Show, Jason Wu and Prada have all made them top colours of their new designs
and clothing. Prada created a oxblood leather shoe which has hit the runways
with style.
One of our old school
favourites is the turtleneck coming back in style. However the new version of
these is slim, style and sophisticated due to the cold weather hitting our
winter.
This fall the fabric
that has captured our fashion designers is velvet. Rich and royal, it looks as
good as it feels.
